This is what I have learned about Cheryl Browder:

Originally from Massachusetts, Cheryl attended the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. Upon graduation she moved to Colorado where she still resides. Cheryl is a member of the Pastel Society of Colorado and the New Mexico Pastel Society. She is represented by The Basalt Gallery, Basalt, Colorado and Mary Williams Fine Arts, Boulder, Colorado.

pastel "Spring Creek Run off" 11 x 14
All reproduction rights reserved to Cheryl Browder.

Cheryl chose pastels for their immediacy, directness and their colors! She finds she is drawn primarily to landscapes, to the color and beauty of nature.

pastel "Winter Willows" 12 x 18
All reproduction rights reserved to Cheryl Browder.

Cheryl works in the plein air tradition where she finds her inspiration painting directly from nature. Her studio paintings are based on these plein air studies. As she explains, each painting starts with an idea suggested by something in the landscape.  She like to explore  impact of one color against another, the light; and the visual idea that inspired the painting.

pastel "Rocky Bank" 8 x 11

Cheryl hopes viewers will see the beauty in the scenes we pass everyday and acknowledge the importance of quickly diminishing open space.   Besides her galleries you can reach her at Cheryl Browder, 654 Camino Del Rio, Gunnison, Co. 81230.

pastel "Ohio Creek Ranch"  1 1 x 14

Collectors Note:   I think Cheryl work is straight forward and masterfully done.  She demonstrates excellent craftsmanship.  Her work is very collectable, and I highly recommend it.  Cheryl lives in Gunnison, which is a more remote part of Colorado.  Her work has not receiving as much attention as it deserves.
